Figurative and Portrait Collection

Capturing the beauty and simplicity of people in everyday life.

People are fascinating…

When I was a young girl I use to make paper dolls, and make up imaginary stories about them. I then started drawing celebrities from magazines. The first celebrity I drew was Ray Charles. It was fairly easy, but the next celebrity I drew was Peggy Lipton. This took more focus because I had a pair of eyes that were starring at me and I realized the eyes are the mirror of the soul. I love drawing the human body, especially the eyes because behind every pair of eyes there is a story to tell. I don't draw portraits often unless a person has requested one or I just feel compelled to draw a particular person. I draw a lot of people from my imagination, but sometimes I use a model. I like to draw people in a relaxing compositional way that I am telling a story about them. I use color to try and achieve the setting or mood. Lately I have been practicing with mixed medias.

The more I think about it, the more I realize there is nothing more artistic than to love others.
